Cleveland Orchestra

James Gaffigan returns to the Cleveland Orchestra as a Guest Conductor for the program of Saturday evening, August 18th.  His program will include the second of Samuel Barber’s Essays for Orchestra, the Second Symphony of Jean Sibelius, and with Stephen Hough, the Piano Concerto No. 1 by Mendelssohn.  On Sunday night, the 19th at Blossom, it’s a very different program as vocalists Capathia Jenkins and Tony DeSare will be featured in songs of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.  216-231-1111  

Cleveland Orchestra Volunteers

The Cleveland Orchestra is seeking volunteer ushers and tour guides, as well as students 14 and older for the Junior Volunteer Corps for the 2018-2019 Severance Hall season.  Open interview sessions are scheduled for August 23rd and 26th.  216-231-7425  

Kent State University Museum

The Kent State University Museum has the Katharine Hepburn exhibit Dressed for Stage and Screen.  The show opens February 2nd and will continue through September 2nd in the Broadbent Gallery.  

Rabbit Run Theater

Rabbit Run Theater in Madison has the musical Evita with performances weekends through August 18th.  

Resonanz Opera

Resonanz Opera will present three performances of Mozart’s The Magic Flute in Mentor, Sagamore Hills and Novelty on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 17th, 18th and 19th

Summit County Historical Society

The Summit County Historical Society will host its first-ever Victorian Circus with Wizbang Theater on Thursday evening, August 23rd

Tremont Arts in August

In Cleveland, the annual Tremont Arts in August Festival begins August 3rd and continues through the 31st with outdoor theater, dance and music events. 

Weathervane Playhouse

Akron’s Weathervane Playhouse has the classic musical Bye Bye Birdie in the Founders Theater through August 19th.  330-836-2626  

Wolfs Gallery

Wolfs Gallery hosts Cleveland:  A Cultural Center, a loan exhibition of 150 artworks celebrating the community of artists known as the Cleveland School. The exhibition runs through August 31st
