Baldwin Wallace

At Baldwin Wallace University, the BW Symphonic Winds will be joined by the Factory Seconds Brass Trio for the premiere of Clint Needham’s Concerto for Brass Trio and Wind Ensemble, as well as music of Mozart, Grainger and Wagner, on Wednesday evening, February 28th

Beck Center

The Beck Center for the Arts joins with the Baldwin Wallace Musical Theater program to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hair.  It runs February 9th through 25th at the Beck Center.  

Blank Canvas Theater

On stage at Blank Canvas Theater, it’s Sweeney Todd:  The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, playing February 23rd through March 10th.  440-941-0458  

Callisto Quartet

Cleveland’s Callisto Quartet will perform two noontime concerts at the Music Settlement in University Circle on two Fridays, March 2nd and 16th, prior to departing for the String Quartet Competition in London at Wigmore Recital Hall. 

Canton Symphony

Music of Mozart, Copland and Stephen Montague will make up the next Canton Symphony Orchestra concert on Saturday evening, March 3rd in Canton’s Umstattd Performing Arts Hall.  330-452-2094  

Chagrin Concert Series

The Chagrin Concert Series will feature violinist Jassen Todorov performing music for solo violin by Bach on Sunday afternoon, March 4th, at Valley Lutheran Church in Chagrin Falls.   

Cleveland Cello Society

The Cleveland Cello Society will present a recital by Madeline Kabat, one of the Society’s past Collegiate Competition winners, at The Music Settlement in University Circle on Friday Evening, February 23rd.  216-921-3480  

Cleveland Classical Guitar Society

The Cleveland Classical Guitar Society’s next recital features the guitar duo Les Freres Meduses on Saturday evening, February 24th, at Plymouth Church on Coventry Road in Shaker Heights.  216-905-9348  

Cleveland Institute of Music

At the Cleveland Institute of Music, there’ll be four performances of Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel February 28th through March 3rd.  216-795-3211  

Cleveland Orchestra

Guest Conductor Matthias Pintscher leads the Cleveland Orchestra in an all-Ravel program at Severance Hall on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, February 22nd,  23rd and 24th.  Jean-Yves Thibaudet is the soloist in the Piano Concerto for the Left Hand.  216-231-1111  

Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and Youth Chorus will join forces for a Sunday evening concert on February 25th.  Vinay Parameswaran will lead the program, which will include the First Symphony of Jean Sibelius and music of Howard Hanson and Antonin Dvorak.  216-231-1111  

Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra

The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra will hold auditions during the month of May for middle and high school student instrumentalists who are studying privately and are involved in their school music programs.  Although the auditions are in May, the application deadline is the end of March. 

Cleveland Philharmonic

The Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra’s next concert will feature Abhik Mazumder, the winner of the Young Artist Competition, will perform the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2.   Performances are Saturday, March 3rd, in Painesville and Sunday the 4th at the Tri-C Western Campus Theater.  

Cleveland Playhouse

At the Cleveland Playhouse, The Invisible Hand opens on February 17th and will run through March 11th

Cleveland Public Theater

Cleveland Public Theater and Teatro Publico de Cleveland present En el Tiempo de las Mariposas, In the Time of the Butterflies, February 22nd through March 10th in the Gordon Square Theater.  216-6361-2727 ext 501  

Dobama Theater

Dobama Theater will have the Midwest premiere of Lucy Prebble’s The Effect, 2012 winner of the UK Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play.  It runs February 28th through March 25th.  216-9392-3396  

East Cleveland Theater

Ensemble Theater

Gates Mills Players

The Gates Mills Players will present A Thurber Carnival March 2nd through 10th at the Gates Mills Community House. 

Groundworks Dance Theater

Two world premieres are part of the Spring Dance Series for GroundWorks Dance Theater on Saturday evening, March 3rd, at Akron’s E. J. Thomas Hall. 

Heights Arts

The Heights Arts Close Encounters Chamber Music series will feature the Omni Quartet and friends performing the Brahms G Major Sextet on Sunday afternoon, February 25th, at the Dunham Tavern Museum. 

Kent Keyboard Series

On Sunday, February 25th, the Kent Keyboard Series will continue with a recital by faculty member Donna Lee.  She will be joined by cellist Keith Robinson and clarinetist Robert Woolfrey in music of Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms.  330-672-2787  

Kent State University Museum

The Kent State University Museum has the Katharine Hepburn exhibit Dressed for Stage and Screen.  The show opens February 2nd and will continue through September 2nd in the Broadbent Gallery.  

Lorain County Metroparks

Children of Eden will be the next production at the French Creek Theater of the Lorain County Metroparks, running from March 9th through the 25th.   440-949-5200  

MAD Factory

In Lorain, the MAD Factory (that’s Music, Arts and Drama) is staging the musical version of The Addams Family February 16th through 25th in the Lorain High School Performing Arts Center.   440-935-3875  

Oberlin Artist Recital Series

Oberlin Opera Theater

The Oberlin Conservatory’s Opera Theater will have four performances of Benjamin Britten’s Turn of the Screw March 7th through 11th at Hall Auditorium on the Oberlin Collee Campus.  

Ohio State University Men’s Glee Club

Rocky River Chamber Music Society

Clarinetist Allan Ware joins the Ciompi String Quartet in the next concert to be presented by the Rocky River Chamber Music Society at West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River on Monday evening, March 5th.  They’ll perform music of Mozart, Weber and Brahms. 

Saint John Cathedral.

Contrapunctus, a high voices ensemble, will perform a program of Music in Praise of the Blessed Virgin Mary with music ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to the world premiere of a new piece by Graham Keitch.  The concert is at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Downtown Cleveland on Friday evening, March 2nd.  216-771-6666 ext 5510 

Symphony West

Symphony West’s next concert is called Espana Soleada – music from sunny Spain by Bizet, Falla, Lecuona and others on Friday evening, March 9th, in Gamble Auditorium at Baldwin Wallace University 

Tuesday Musical
